| Angelo has been repairing and upgrading
computers for 12 years. He has solved problems that other
computer shops couldn't solve. When customers can't get their
computers fixed they bring them to Angelo. The first thing
Angelo does with a computer is run his diagnostics program. It
usually finds hardware problems, for which he only charges
$32.50 ($48 for laptops). Then he calls up the customer and tells him/her how
much more it's going to cost. If there are no hardware
problems, then Angelo will check for viruses and spyware. If no, viruses or spyware,
then Angelo checks the operating system
for registry problems and corrupt system files. One way or
another the problem will be solved. |
Here are some tips on maitaining your computer:
Do not leave your computer in a very warm or cold place, e.g. over 90 degree heat or under 40 degrees cold.
Leaving your computer in a car or place with no a/c or heating are common mistakes.
Do not use your computer when you are intoxicated, this has resulted in people spilling drinks on the computer or dropping it.
It's a good idea to run the defragmenter in Windows about every 6 or 12 months, depending on how much use the computer gets and
the amount of software and files that have been loaded and unloaded. These leave a disorganized hard drive. Which leads to
a slower performance. To run defragmenter first reboot your Windows in safe mode. You can do this by holding down the
ctrl/shift or clicking F8 as it is booting with the black bios screen before it boots windows.
(depending on your Windows version)in Win Xp, goto start, programs, accessories, system tools, and defragmenter.
Finally, make sure that you have a current antivirus and antispy on your computer. These are a must if you use the internet.
CompuWiz sells Norton antivirus $35.00. It comes with a cd and license, and 1 year subscription to the virus definitions.
As for an antispy, currently we recommend Microsoft antispy, which runs only on Win Xp, Win Xp Pro, Win 2000 Pro, but not
Win ME, Win 98 or Win 95. For those we recommend Yahoo antispy. Both these antispy programs are FREE.
