His work has been excellent, repairing the following
problems:
|
|
|

notebook. Also people tend to do strange things to
them.
- Notebook crashing, blue screen or freezing
problems.

Here are some tips on maitaining your laptop:
Do not transport your laptop with the ac plugged into the
laptop. This will result in a cracked/broken dc jack on the laptop.
It is hard and very expensive to fix, $242.50 (The laptop has to be completely taken apart and the motherboard removed and the dc
jack unsoldered and replaced with a new dc jack. On some laptops, e.g. compaq 700, etc. the whole motherboard must be replaced,
resulting in $300+ repair.)
Do not set your laptop on your bed, this also contributes to a
cracked dc jack. If you want to use it on your bed, set it on a tray, making sure that no pressure is on the plug and jack.
Do not lay a drink on the same platform as your laptop, e.g. on your desk or coffe table.
Do not run the laptop plug across an area where you or people in the room may trip over the wire.
This can not only result in an injury to the person but also a cracked/broken dc jack. $242.50 to fix.
Do not leave your laptop in a very warm or cold place, e.g. over 90 degree heat or under 40 degrees cold.
Leaving your laptop in a car or place with no a/c or heating are common mistakes.
Do not use your laptop when you are intoxicated, this has resulted in people spilling drinks on the laptop or dropping it.
At airports/hotels/malls keep in mind that there are people looking to steal laptops.
Finally, make sure that you have a current antivirus and antispy on your laptop. These are a must if you use the internet.
CompuWiz sells Norton antivirus $35.00. It comes with a cd and license, and 1 year subscription to the virus definitions.
As for an antispy, currently we recommend Microsoft antispy, which runs only on Win Xp, Win Xp Pro, Win 2000 Pro, but not
Win ME, Win 98 or Win 95. For those we recommend Yahoo antispy. Both these antispy programs are FREE.
Microsoft antispy is available at www.microsoft.com and yahoo antispy at www.yahoo.com. Good Luck and God bless you.
